The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that non-essential travel between Mexico, Canada, and the United States will continue to not be permitted until at least June 21, 2021.
“Non-essential travel” under this land border closure includes tourism, so you’ll have to wait at least another month for any hope of crossing the border by land to our neighbor to the north or south. However, it’s possible that the closure will be extended again as it has been monthly since March of 2020.
In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested that his country’s border will likely remain closed until at least 75% of the Canadian population has been vaccinated. Crossings into Canada by methods other than land are permitted, but proof of a negative COVID-19 test is required along with a further quarantine.
